Security Overview

A plainer-language view of how Small Claims Helper protects data.

This page explains the most important security controls, what happens if we receive a legal request, and what you can do to reduce exposure on your side.

How Protection Works

The main safeguards in everyday use

These are the technical controls that matter most when you save information in the product.

Client-side document encryption

Generated documents can be encrypted in your browser before upload. The unlock passphrase stays on your device and is never stored on our servers.

Tamper-evident integrity chain

Each saved document snapshot receives a signed integrity hash so unexpected changes can be detected later.

Minimal server-readable storage

In encrypted mode we keep ciphertext and limited metadata only, which reduces the amount of readable content we can disclose.

Automatic deletion after termination

When an account is terminated, access stops immediately and account data is purged seven days later.

Legal Requests

If we receive a subpoena or similar demand

Platforms can be required to produce data. Our goal is to reduce what is readable at rest and preserve integrity records.

We validate legal requests with counsel before producing data.
If your documents were saved in encrypted mode, we can provide encrypted blobs and limited metadata only.
We preserve audit records of access and document integrity events for accountability.

Important Limit

Security controls are not the same as legal privilege

Important limit

Small Claims Helper is not a law firm and does not create attorney-client privilege. Technical controls can reduce exposure, but no consumer app can promise absolute confidentiality in every legal scenario.

Your Side

What you can do to protect your account and documents

A few customer actions make the built-in protections more effective.

Use encrypted vault mode for sensitive documents

If a document is especially sensitive, save it in encrypted mode instead of relying on standard storage only.

Keep your passphrase private

Choose a strong passphrase and store it somewhere safe. If you lose it, encrypted content may not be recoverable.

Remove accounts you no longer need

Terminating unused accounts starts the seven-day deletion flow and reduces what remains stored.

Review your security settings regularly

Check for unusual activity and update your settings before a deadline or important filing.
